Network Outages

Important nbn® service update for HFC customers:

We’re upgrading the nbn Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) network to help deliver a more reliable experience and uplift capacity, so your connection can keep up with everything you need, now and into the future.

While we carry out this work, there may be short periods where your service is interrupted. We know how important staying connected is to Australians, and we’re working hard to complete these upgrades as quickly as possible so that you can get back to doing even more great things online.

Important note: For the purpose of this page, a planned outage is where nbn provides a phone and internet provider with more than 15 minutes notice that an outage will occur. This is separate to the Wholesale Broadband Agreement that we have with providers.

Things to keep in mind

nbn is a wholesaler – we provide the portion of the network that connects your home or business to your service provider’s network.

Please be aware that this tool does not cover premises connected via business nbn Satellite Service or Enterprise Ethernet, and may not reflect all outages for the nbn Sky Muster Plus satellite service. If you are connected to the nbn access network via one of these services and you are experiencing issues, please contact your service provider.

Read more about the following:

* Your experience, including the speeds actually achieved over the nbn network, depends on the nbn access technology and configuration over which services are delivered to your premises, whether you are using the internet during the busy period, and some factors outside of nbn’s control (like your equipment quality, software, chosen broadband plan or how your provider designs its network). For business nbn Enterprise Ethernet, if your service provider has not selected a bandwidth in the highest of three classes of service available for business nbn Enterprise Ethernet, the speeds you experience may be affected by contention on the nbn network, particularly in busy periods. For nbn Fixed Wireless, speeds may also be impacted by the number of concurrent users on the nbn Fixed Wireless network, including during busy periods. For nbn Satellite, end customers may also experience latency.

^ Conditions, eligibility criteria and costs will apply – please speak with your preferred provider. Eligibility criteria includes among other things, being designated by nbn as a simple premises and placing an order for an nbn powered plan based on an eligible wholesale speed tier. Additional costs may apply to providers, who may choose to pass this charge onto their customers.
